So first thing's first: If you are reading this it means you have arrived at my brand new website, and I'd like to say thanks for checking it out!
I've never blogged before and I want this to space to be about something, so I've decided to start by unabashedly plugging people and things that I love, in relationship to both the Industry and the artistic soul food that keeps me going:-)
I will start with a fantastic career coach I've been working with on and off over the past year- her name is Dallas Travers and she's wonderful. I took an 8 week workshop with her last summer and it provided a great weekly accountability in terms of me setting Industry related goals and following thru with them... felt really on top of things- now I'm in the once a month master class- going on my third month and I have to say I'm loving it-- I already had a personal mission that 2009 was going to be a year of me being a consistent creative powerhouse, and the set-up provides an enormously helpful weekly buddy system-- I have received so much pertinent info. and resource connections from meetings with my last two buddies and I love being able to help as well... it's worth checking out... www.dallastravers.com
I am also going to plug my dear friend Bobby Field- in addition to being a fantastic performing artist (you can check out the link to his upcoming film "The Bridge", that I am associate producing this year on my home page), he is also a phenomenal Demo Reel Editor-- he spends hours going through all of the footage you bring him, and you work together to get the best combo of scenes you can-- he's great about laying in music, editing so that you become the star of every piece, then he puts it all together and you come back a second day to watch together and revise--- his contact info. is bobbyfield@pacbell.net
Kristin Hanggi, my homegirl since our sophomore UCLA days, is having her Broadway directing debut, this week (I think her opening night was the 6th) with the Rock and Roll show, "Rock of Ages"- she's been with the show since it's incarnation and I am moved beyond words that she has taken it all the way to Broadway--- if you are in New York, PLEASE see this show!!! It's a blast-- if you love 7o's and 80's Rock and Roll (think Guns N' Roses, Journey, Bon Jovi)- you will be in sing along heaven:-)!
A few months back, some buddies of mine, George Griffith and Jeffrey Doornbos, launched a website that is currently hosting 3 different webisode series, "From the Head" , "Black Guy with an Axe", and "Extinction"... see what these boys have been up to at www.alpharatrace.com
I was a member on this list years ago, forgot about it and recently signed up again... the site is infolist.com--- it's run by a man named Jeff Gund, and it's a great resource- almost daily you are sent e-mails with information about some area of the Industry- workshops, screenwriting competitions, production work opportunities, castings, networking events, etc... it's another free resource, so I am saying, why not?
Music I am loving at the moment-- I cannot stop listening to my friend Austin Hartley- Leonard's album, "Franklin Ave." - He played at a live show I helped organize last week
with bandmate Matt Ramsey and they ripped it up, super- soulful... I bought a CD the next day and have been happily haunted by the songs since... other local artists I think are stunning:
Bonnie Piesse, Gavin Bellour (formerly of Million/Billion), Cydney Robinson, Dalton Grant and Kim DiVine. All of these artists have some of their music available on iTunes (except maybe Bonnie but her album is on it's way and I will keep you posted)-- I will also post upcoming show dates for all, if I catch wind of them, here as well!
And last but not least for this first little outing into bloggery:
Sometimes it's nice to wake up to a little inspiration- there are two sites committed to sending free daily slices of goodness ... www.tut.com will send a different fun-loving reminder from your pal, The Universe, every Monday thru Friday morning, acknowledging just how great you are and how available all the good things are to each of us...
www.intenders.org has a lot more meat to it- an idea, a story to support the idea, and then a sweet affirmation at the end to take thru the day with you...
I'm a big fan of both sites and wanted to share:-)
Thanks again for stopping by and taking the time to read this- hope something on this list is helpful or inspires a smile in your world...
more to come...
Natalie
